An aging middle school receives a new classroom addition as well as renovated administration and clinic areas. The addition provides much needed student capacity with 11 new classrooms, storage, and mechanical space, allowing the elimination of temporary classrooms currently on campus. Handicapped accessibility in and around the school is greatly improved through an elevator in the classroom addition as well as improved site grading.
Exterior materials used on the addition are also used at the existing front door, creating a unified and updated exterior appearance for the building. Tall clerestory windows are added above the existing lobby, allowing light to flood the existing entry area. Renovated administration and clinic areas in the existing school provide more efficient administrative space, greater visibility, and improved supervision of the school’s main entry.
